GAINESVILLE – Glade Farms in northern Hall County provided the breathtaking views as the North Georgia Community Foundation celebrated their 25th anniversary. More than 400 attendees enjoyed the cool breeze of a summer night in June.

For the past two and a half decades, the Foundation has worked diligently to provide more than $35,000,000 in grants, scholarships and endowments throughout their 15-county service area. Foundation President & CEO Jim Mathis explained, “The Foundation was created twenty-five years ago by a group of community leaders in Gainesville. Today we have about $32 million in the foundation's coffers."

The Gainesville Jaycees played an integral role in the evening's success and were recognized & praised by Foundation Board Chair Jim Coyle, Board member Frank Norton Jr and CEO Jim Mathis. The Jaycees were in charge of parking for the crowd of 400+, and in true Jaycees hospitality, were able to round up 10 golf carts to provide shuttle service. The more than 350+ yard walk, up the side of a mountain, was made much easier as the Jaycees shuttled each guest up the mountain for the event and then back down at the end of the event.

Some comments from guests regarding the Jaycees service:

"At 85 years old, I could not have imagined walking up that hill. Thank you to the Jaycees for giving me a lift."
-M. Parkes; Gainesville native

"That's the smoothest ride I've ever enjoyed!"
-G. Whalen; Gainesville Native

"I would the Jaycees drive me anywhere!"
-Mr. and Mrs. Cochran; Lumpkin county residents
