ABOUT US
The Gainesville Jaycees
Founded in 1945, the purpose of The Gainesville Junior Chamber of Commerce (Jaycees) is to positively impact our community by developing connected, engaged, capable leaders through planning and facilitating community service projects. Our members receive hands-on experience in assessing community needs and then planning & executing projects to meet those needs. Jaycees grow personally as they develop networking and leadership skills while giving back to the community in which they live and work.
To be eligible for membership consideration, a young man of good character must be recommended by an existing member, be between the ages of 21 and 41, and be registered to vote.
We meet each Thursday at noon upstairs at Mellow Mushroom on Green Street in Gainesville. The best way to learn about our club is to attend a weekly meeting, where you can meet our members and learn about what we do in the community.
The Jaycees Creed
We believe:
That faith in God gives meaning and purpose to human life;
That the brotherhood of man transcends the sovereignty of nations;
That economic justice can best be won by free men through free enterprise;
That government should be of laws rather than of men;
That earth’s great treasure lies in human personality;
And that service to humanity is the best work of life!
Meet our 2024 Board of Directors
Jaycees operations and charities are managed by a board of 16 to 18 members with responsibilities divided into an Executive Board and Board of Directors. The Executive Board members are responsible for providing direction, guidance, and oversight of day-to-day operations and projects of the club throughout the year. Each member of the Board Directors is responsible for one or two specific projects during the course of the year while contributing to the success of all projects.
